Shining Scars

Not all wounds leave scars
Some leave stars
-high medals of honor
Shining brightly on the chest of a victor

So don’t hold back
and even life cannot hold you back
Don’t start tales of adventures you never had
With “if only I had…”

Be that first fool
Who spent days thinking of how cool
It will be on the moon
and men will see you there soon

Men have short memories
Their names don’t stick, their laughters die with the breeze
Their songs are ever changing
Just like the story you are writing

So go on, make that jump, fall
Break an arm, a leg but stand again, stand tall
Yea, even taller, even more resolved
To take another leap! No matter the cost involved.

Go on!
Go on! Make the mistakes, get the scars!
For your scars are stars
That will guide you like it has done sailors
and navigate you through your failures

and when your ship has berthed on the shores of victory
And your songs ring loud above the trees
You will be sure to remember
It was all at a price, No! It was never for free!
But the important lesson remains and will remain
That not all wounds leave scars
For how then would you have made it this far?
