Hourglass

I should have looked around more
for I thought I moved with a crowd
but now it seems it’s only some few stragglers behind me
each minding their own business
Thought I had hands to support me
especially looking at what battle I have before me
but…

Someone just whispered to me
That life is like an hourglass
You are in droves at one point
With the love and friendship and all that
and the next moment you are in that tight spot
In the middle
In the middle of some tough crisis
You are squeezing through that tight spot
alone…
You are hemed in
and beaten alone
Alone…Or so it seems

image

It’s until you go through that middle spot
That tight spot alone
That you land upon the many
that have gone through that ordeal before
You will meet friends again
and compare scars
and share battle stories

There, you will be with friends again
Till some hand turns the hourglass again.
Then you go alone
go slow
go hard
go hurt
…alone…but not really alone

TIN SOLDIERS AND PAPER ROSES

TIN SOLDIERS AND PAPER ROSES

If you knew,
you weren’t going to walk me through
the seven-times hotter furnaces,
if you knew you wouldn’t answer my calls
and feed me by brooks in droughts,
if you knew,
when it mattered the most
you would let me swim
across my Red-seas alone,
Why then did you make promises
you knew you were strong enough to break?

A knee on the ground,
a rose in hand,
Sweet words streaming out of the gutters of your mouth
It’s nothing to me now
because the winds are gathering
and the fires are raining
What would become of you?

Tin soldier , take your paper rose
and never exist
For the real world is fiery!
